Cradles to Crayons
Posted on August 28, 2007 by Jennifer Brady
Driving into work this morning, my ears perked up upon hearing the words education and making it more accessible and more affordable. Come to find out, it was a 30 second spot to promote the great work being done by 'Cradles to Crayons', a local organization whose mission is that "one day, every child will have the basic things they need to be safe, ready to learn, and feel valued."
They noted that the average family spends $500 on back-to-school items. For those who are already struggling to purchase simple, inexpensive items like paper and pens that they can't afford, many are simply doing without. Cradles to Crayons is definitely making an impact as they have helped more than 75,000 local children in need.
This is written in the spirit of sharing some great things going on in the world to better the lives of others by providing the tools and resources to learners in need.
