Inspirational Story for Other ‘Jugglers’?

Posted on January 2, 2008 by Jennifer Brady

As many do, thinking through the previous year looking towards the next, I think back on stories that opened my eyes or even just caused me to stop for a minute or two to reflect and look through a new lens.  This story in the Plano Courier found its way to my desktop because it makes reference to getting an education as a working adult, without the benefit of online learning. For the woman featured in the piece, the online option would have made a huge difference.

I share this story also as an article you may want to keep on hand to read (and possibly re-read) if and when life challenges seem insurmountable. It’s about a woman named Kathy Hines. She’s 42. You won’t believe all the things that have happened to her. And I doubt you’ll read this without wincing at least a couple of times. Adult learners juggling jobs, families, and course-work will likely identify with this story the most. Almost everyone at one time or another, while attending college either online or at a traditional campus, can feel overwhelmed. At those times, perhaps the inspirational story of Kathy Hines will help you regroup and push ahead.
