Nursing Shortage, Yes; Shortage of Learning Options, No.
Posted on January 24, 2008 by Jennifer Brady
Hardly a week goes by that someone doesn’t note in print the apparent national shortage of nurses and other health care professionals. Here’s one, for example, noted just last week on the Online Learning Update. It features a training firm, focused primarily on distance learning options for certified nursing assistants. The CEO of the training company makes some very powerful points about educational access and distance learning advantages for caregivers with which I agree wholeheartedly.
My point in bringing this to everyone’s attention here is to make sure all current and would-be nursing professionals are aware of our extensive choices for online certificates and degrees in the healthcare sector. And, in case you missed this earlier post, here’s a recently posted interview with Kathleen Polley, Director, Online RN-BS Program, University of Massachusetts Boston, and here’s one in which Burton Holmes, Assistant Dean, Corporate Continuing and Distance Education at the University of Massachusetts Boston, talks about our online Gerontology program. And, lastly, at this link you can get a complete overview of all the online nursing and healthcare programs offered through UMassOnline.
