Highlights from the UMassOnline Marketing Roundtable
Posted on February 29, 2008 by Jennifer Brady
This week more than 40 academic leaders and staff from throughout the University of Massachusetts system convened at UMassOnline for a day-long discussion of social media and higher education, online higher education industry research, and search engine marketing and optimization.
The morning’s keynote speaker was Dr. Nora Ganim Barnes, Chancellor Professor of Marketing and Director of the Center for Marketing Research at UMass Dartmouth. For her groundbreaking research of social media in corporate as well as academic institutions, Dr. Barnes has established a global reputation for being among the first to identify and understand the power of the new media technology and for currently having the most well-informed vision about the future of this new form of conversation and community-building online.
For anyone, whether in a business or academic role, with an interest in how social media is being used, why it is working, and what are the prerequisites for success, Dr. Barnes’ research, offered here, is a must see.

Jen,
Thanks for the link to Dr. Barnes’ research. As someone interested in both higher education and online marketing, this is a fantastic resource. Great to see UMass continue on its quest to be on the forefront of using technology to improve the education experience. Keep up the great work!
