Podcasts 101: Social Podcasting (Part 3 of 3)

Posted on April 18, 2008 by Stefanie Henderson

Stefanie HendersonWikipedia defines social podcasting as “a form of podcasting that allows more than one author to insert content into a podcast.” Some podcasters may not have time to post weekly podcasts to keep the subject matter fresh. Social podcasting permits other users to contribute to multiple podcasting communities. Within podcasting communities, podcasts are easier to browse, search, and to subscribe.

From my three part series on podcasts, we’ve learned about various podcatching tools to use as well as which podcasting publishing software works best. This week’s Friday Fives discusses the top podcasting communities for social podcasting:

  1. Podbean: Provides podcast hosting, searching, and subscribing.
  2. Blubrry: Attend Blubrry University for information on being part of their podcasting community.
  3. Hipcast: Ability to produce audio and video podcasts. Great to search and share!
  4. TalkShoe: Browse, create, and share podcasts. Now with Facebook integration.
  5. Gabcast: Record podcasts using your phone or VoIP.

Please be sure to tell others all about any social podcasting communities you recently visited in the comment box below.
