UMassOnline Welcomes a New “China Column”
Posted on January 22, 2009 by Li Feng
Happy 2009!
Welcome to the new “China Column” of UMassOnline blog. This column will be a place of many posts specifically written to share progress of our exciting China Initiative as well as perspectives on US distance and online education that a Chinese student will find eye-opening and informative.
As the primary China blogger, I will say a few words about myself. My name is Li Feng, or 冯荔 in Chinese. I joined UMassOnline, a world leader in online education, a few months ago as the China Partnership Coordinator to manage the China Initiative. As a Chinese national living in the United States, I enjoy serving as a bridge between the two countries. I chose UMassOnline because I had faith in the online education that UMassOnline offers and I felt that bringing quality UMassOnline courses to students in China was a worthwhile and desirable cause.
Prior to joining UMassOnline, I had extensive work experience in higher education, both online and on-campus – college teaching experience in China and in the U.S. and Instructional Technologist experience at the Lowell campus of University of Massachusetts. At the same time, I am expecting to be awarded my doctoral degree in Education in a few months’ time.
I am passionate about three areas: 1) making teaching and learning a more effective and enjoyable process by meaningfully integrating technology into it; 2) providing educational opportunities for more people with online education technologies; and 3) cultural and language exchanges between China and U.S.
I look forward to sharing more insights with you on future posts and welcome and encourage comments. Please feel free to leave comments and feedback if you have anything to share!
