Consumer Electronics Show to Offer its First-Ever Higher Education Technology Focus

Posted on August 5, 2009 by Stefanie Henderson

Stefanie Henderson Promoters of the 2010 International CES® say it is the world’s largest tradeshow for consumer technology. At this year’s event, which occurs in January, the show will have a new feature that will interest any online learner or teacher. Here’s how they describe it and why they are offering it:

HigherEd Tech Conference Program and TechZone – e-learning, Wikipedia, mobile devices, netbooks and smartboards are just a few of the technologies that are changing the face of higher education. And college students are among the first to adopt new technologies and determine the next big trend. HigherEd Tech will bring academics and technologies together to examine what’s happening on the high tech campus.

A news release about this is here and it includes a link for those who may want to register to attend.

Since it is in Las Vegas in January I think it is an absolute must that UMassOnline send me to blog from the pool event. What do you think?

CES is a great place to look for new “toys” that one can creatively utilize in a classroom. InfoComm is also another great place to look for classroom technologies. Going to trade shows is a great way to build up contacts for the institution you work for so that you can get on the inside track when it comes to new technologies (at least that’s what my experience has been :-) )
