UMassOnline and UMass Campus Officials in Upcoming UCEA Conference Panel
Posted on October 8, 2009 by Jennifer Brady
Chad McGuire from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and J. Gary Bernhard, from University Without Walls at the University of Massachusetts Amherst will be present on October 29th in a panel discussion entitled “How Green Online Achieves More For Less” at the University Continuing Education Association (UCEA) New England Regional Conference in Hyannis, Massachusetts.
The overall theme of this year’s regional event is Endorsing The New Decade: Working Green, Working Lean. Therefore, our panel will be discussing our recently launched green online programs including offerings of Sustainable Entrepreneurship, Green Building, Environmental Policy, and Sustainability Studies. These were announced in May and you can read more about them in this news release from UMassOnline.
In summary, our panel will be focused on this message: If a cleaner, greener, more energy efficient world is the goal of this new decade, what better place to start than by offering Sustainable Entrepreneurship, Green Building, Environmental Policy, and Sustainability Studies in a way that minimizes energy use: online, and in a way that delivers learning opportunities far beyond our regional borders to potential students in developing nations, emerging markets, and industrialized hubs.
If you’re not familiar with the national scope and purpose of UCEA, here’s how they describe their mission: The University Continuing Education Association attaches high priority to meeting the professional development needs of its members. Through its programs, publications, conferences, institutes, seminars, and public advocacy, the Association seeks to advance university professional and continuing education.
