Apostolos Koutropoulos

Apostolos Koutropoulos (“A.K.”) is an Instructional Support Specialist for the Educational Technology group at the University of Massachusetts Boston where he explores new technologies, consults faculty on pedagogically sound ways of integrating technology into the curriculum and mentors instructional designers that are new to the profession. He holds a B.A. in Computer Science, an M.B.A. with a focus on Human Resources, an M.S. in Information Technology and an M.Ed. in Instructional Design from the University of Massachusetts Boston and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics. In addition to technological and human factors in the administration of higher education, AK is interested in educational technology research as it applies to improving learning outcomes and student engagement.
Art Clifford

Co-director Journalism Certificate Program, UMass Amherst
Art Clifford is co-director of the Journalism Certificate Program at Continuing & Professional Education on the UMass Amherst campus. He and Journalism Professor Norm Sims created the program six years ago and have seen it grow from a handful of students to hundreds each year. They also have a cadre of journalism professionals with online teaching experience and based on campus and in several far-flung locations such as northern Maine and Dingle, Ireland.
Art is a retired Air Force officer (Reserve) who works part-time with the Air Force Academy and is producing a video about his father’s World War II exploits in the South Pacific with the Royal Australian Air Force.
Art has done PR for the Secretary of the Air Force; UMass Amherst; and Energy Magazine. In Jan. 1994, he created the third active web site (News Office) on the Amherst campus (the Mathematics and Physics Departments preceded him by six months). He is currently working with the UMass Library Development Council.
Art current goal is to see his Certificate Program increase student enrollment by 20 percent in 2009. The program has averaged ten percent annual growth since its inception.
Mark Gillard

Mark Gillard is graduate of the Online BBA Program offered by UMass Amherst’s Isenberg School of Management. Mark works full-time at Sullivan Tire Company based in Norwell, MA where he is responsible for all aspects of marketing and advertising including, media buying, marketing and promotional calendar, customer database management, online marketing, P/R, and brand management. Mark earned his Associate’s Degree from Quincy College and a Certificate in Internet Technologies from Northeastern University. Mark brings a great and unique perspective to the UMassOnline blog as a former online student, graduate, and working marketing professional. Mark expects to blog beyond graduation with a new perspective, an alumnus recently transferring his skills in the workplace.
